Last year, Wordfeud
(online scrabble) was a good example of a good social multiplayer-game, but
2012 becomes the year of the social games on your smart phone. Multiplayer
games are games, which you can play online against other players, but only when
you have enough time. Multiplayer games are very popular and the market is
growing. The power of these games is the combination of gaming and other
community aspects like chatting and watching other profiles and scores.
Multiplayer games are more attractive for players than single player games,
because the game is more extensive and the possibility to form a community. In
this blog you will find the best social games and some recommendations:
1. Word on
A
Dutch game that is based on Scrabble and Wordfeud, but it is different because
you do not put letters on a game board. You start each turn with 7 letters with
a certain value. With those letters you have to make a word (with the largest
possible value). Some boxes give double or triple letter values. Or when you
put a letter on the dark blue boxes, this letter becomes a bonus letter from
your competitors, but when your competitor uses both bonus letters in the next
word he receive bonus points. When this is not the case he will lose points.
All points will count up and the player with the most points wins. Together it
is a game to play good, value words but also a tactic game to give your

2. Draw Something
Another
very successful multiplayer game is Draw Something. You can read the

3. Charadium II
You
can play the game in 2 different ways online. Live against other players, where
a whole group must guess as fast as possible the drawing in words. Or with a
turning system. Just like in Draw Something you draw for a competitor and you
have to guess the drawings from the other. But how longer it takes to guess the
word, the more letters they whisper and the amount of points decrease. You can

4. Blocker
A
strategic variant on four-on-a-row is Blocker. Players take turns to shove blocks
in the field. The first player with a line between the 3 different color points
on the board wins. The difficulty is that the shove of new blocks made also

5. Carcassonne - A version of the board game the settlers of
Catan (Kolonisten van Catan in Dutch). You can download it for €7.99 here.
6. Dominion - A version of the board game Risk. There are more
apps for this game, but the advantage from this app is that you can play it in

7. Hero Academy - A game to put and activate new units and special
forces. The goal is to capture or destroy the diamants. You can download the

8. Nummi - A version of the board game Rummikub. You can

9. Poker Pals - A combination of Poker and Scrabble. You can
download the paidgame (€0.79) or forfree.
10. Social Chess - Chess but then on an app! Get used to the long
intermissions to watch very closely before each turn to your own strategies and
