Personal information public with many apps


Many apps send personal data without awareness of the user. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) studied 101 popular apps and discovered that 56 of these apps send the unique identification number of the phone to companies. And 47 of these apps share the location of the smart phones with others.

Some apps go even further and sent information about age, gender and other personal details of the user to different companies. A striking result of the research is that iPhone apps seem to send more information than Android apps. It is not exactly clear why.

Future of apps II: Smart TV’s


We cannot deny it anymore. Apps are everywhere, even on the latest smart TV’s! Today, on almost every smart TV platform you can install apps. For example, apps to check weather reports, to read the news or watch a movie. Some brands like Philips, Samsung and Sharp present a standard number of local apps on their smart TV platform. These are remarkable developments, but are TV apps the future?

Owner and director August de Vocht of Gemoro Mobile Marketing in Tilburg confirms this. "There will be a great future for apps on television.”

The future of apps


There are currently more than 20,000 iPhone applications available in the Apple App store. That means the creation of 2000 apps monthly worldwide. These numbers show that applications are indispensable for current mobile devices. Some even think that mobile applications will mean the end of the internet as we know it today. But is that true?
