The hype of 2012: Multiplayer games!
Last year, Wordfeud
(online scrabble) was a good example of a good social multiplayer-game, but
2012 becomes the year of the social games on your smart phone. Multiplayer
games are games, which you can play online against other players, but only when
you have enough time. Multiplayer games are very popular and the market is
growing. The power of these games is the combination of gaming and other
community aspects like chatting and watching other profiles and scores.
Multiplayer games are more attractive for players than single player games,
because the game is more extensive and the possibility to form a community. In
this blog you will find the best social games and some recommendations:
1. Word on
A
Dutch game that is based on Scrabble and Wordfeud, but it is different because
you do not put letters on a game board. You start each turn with 7 letters with
a certain value. With those letters you have to make a word (with the largest
possible value). Some boxes give double or triple letter values. Or when you
put a letter on the dark blue boxes, this letter becomes a bonus letter from
your competitors, but when your competitor uses both bonus letters in the next
word he receive bonus points. When this is not the case he will lose points.
All points will count up and the player with the most points wins. Together it
is a game to play good, value words but also a tactic game to give your
component difficult letters. You can download the game here
for free!

Personal information public with many apps
Many apps
send personal data without awareness of the user. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) studied 101 popular apps and
discovered that 56 of these apps send the unique identification number of the
phone to companies. And 47 of these apps share the location of the smart phones
with others.
Some apps go
even further and sent information about age, gender and other personal details
of the user to different companies. A striking result of the research is that
iPhone apps seem to send more information than Android apps. It is not exactly
clear why.

Future of apps II: Smart TV’s
We cannot
deny it anymore. Apps are everywhere, even on the latest smart TV’s!
Today, on almost every smart TV platform you can install apps. For example,
apps to check weather reports, to read the news or watch a movie. Some brands
like Philips, Samsung and Sharp present a standard number of local apps on
their smart TV platform. These are remarkable developments, but are TV apps the
future?
Owner and
director August de Vocht of Gemoro Mobile Marketing in Tilburg confirms this.
"There will be a great future for apps on television.”

Temporary Apps
Apps come and go, just like trends there are several
reasons for. Examples of apps like these are apps which responds to a popular
item or the topicality. For example Unox launched a few weeks ago (when it was
possible to skate) the WinterExperience App. With this app they located all the skate locations in the
Netherlands.

The future of apps
There are
currently more than 20,000 iPhone applications available in the Apple App
store. That means the creation of 2000 apps monthly worldwide. These numbers
show that applications are indispensable for current mobile devices. Some even
think that mobile applications will mean the end of the internet as we know it
today. But is that true?

iOS vs. Android
According
to a new investigation of the Crittercism, Apple's
mobile operating system iOS crashes more often than Android. The investigation
showed that most apps crashed under iOS 5.0.1 (Apple), followed by iOS 4.2.1 (Android). The
research divided the apps into three quartiles. The 'best', most stable, apps
are in the first quartile. For those applications crashed 0.51 percent of iOS
apps at startup. When Android was only 0.15 percent. In the second and third
quartile Apple's system crashed under 1.47 and 3.66 percent, while in Android
apps 0.73 and 2.97 percent. The study
was conducted in December 2011, when iOS 5.0. was a few weeks offline. The fact
that most of the apps among those update crashed, was there to be due, Apple said.
